Refund Policy

The short version: you have 14 days to change your mind. Subscriptions and credit packs are refundable within 14 days of payment, as long as the credits are still largely unused — and you are never charged for an answer that fails.
1. Scope
This policy covers every payment made to Qyst at qyst.org: subscriptions (Pro, Pro Annual, Business) and one-off credit packs, including custom-amount packs. It sits alongside our Terms of Service and applies to purchases made through our checkout.
2. Who You Are Paying
Checkout is handled by Paddle, our payment partner and merchant of record. Paddle takes the card payment, issues your receipt, and executes any refund back to the card you paid with — your card details never reach Qyst's servers. A Qyst purchase may therefore appear on your statement under Paddle's name. Refund requests still come to us directly at contact@qyst.org: we approve them, and Paddle returns the money.
3. Subscriptions
You can request a full refund of a subscription payment within 14 days of the charge — whether it is your first payment or a renewal — provided you have used less than 10% of the credits granted for that billing period. On a Pro monthly plan, that means fewer than 25 of the period's 250 credits. After 14 days, or once more than 10% of the period's credits are spent, the payment is no longer refundable; you can still cancel at any time to stop the next charge.
4. Credit Packs
A credit pack is refundable in full within 14 days of purchase if none of its credits have been used. If you have used part of it within those 14 days, we refund the unused portion, prorated at the rate you paid: spend 40 credits of a 140-credit pack bought for $10, and we return the value of the 100 credits left. Pack credits never expire, so there is no need to rush the decision — but it is the 14-day window that makes a purchase refundable.
5. Credits You Have Already Used
A used credit is an answer we have already researched, generated and delivered, and whose compute cost we have already paid. Credits consumed on successful answers are therefore not refundable. This is the only part of a purchase we cannot return.
6. Answers That Fail
If an answer fails — an error, an interruption, an empty response — the credit is returned to your balance automatically. You do not have to ask, and you are never charged for an answer that does not arrive. This is a credit refund inside the product rather than a refund of money, and it applies whether or not the 14-day window is still open.
7. Cancelling a Subscription
You can cancel at any time from the billing portal in your account settings — no email to send, no retention call. Cancelling stops every future charge. It does not refund the period you have already paid for: you keep your access and your remaining credits until that period ends. Credits from packs stay in your account after cancellation, since they never expire.
8. How to Request a Refund
Email contact@qyst.org from the address you used at checkout and tell us which purchase you mean — its date, or the receipt Paddle emailed you. No justification is required inside the 14-day window. We answer refund requests within 3 business days. Approved refunds are returned by Paddle to the original payment method and usually reach your bank within 5 to 10 business days, depending on your card issuer. Once a purchase is refunded, the credits it granted are removed from your balance; if it was a subscription payment, plan access ends.
9. Chargebacks
If a charge looks wrong to you, please contact us before disputing it with your bank. A chargeback freezes the payment for weeks, and in most cases we can settle the problem faster ourselves. An account with an open chargeback may be suspended until the dispute is resolved.
10. Your Statutory Rights
Nothing in this policy limits any mandatory consumer right you hold under the law that applies to you, including any statutory right of withdrawal. Where such a right gives you more than this policy does, that right prevails.
